On July 4, I set up my stand at Kunstmarkt Hardenberg, right here in my hometown. It was my first market of the season, and I brought a small selection of hand knitted pieces made from merino, alpaca, bamboo, silk, linen and nettle, all yarn from Italian mills.

People stopped, asked questions, touched the pieces, and some left with something made in a single unique copy. Standing behind my own table, watching that happen in person, is a different experience from anything online can offer.

By the end of the day, three pieces had found new homes. Each conversation reminded me why I make things this way: one piece at a time, by hand, meant to last.
